For the first few weeks of its existence this book will probably be the most widely read in the Silver Lake towns. And then, after awhile, it will be put away in a corner someplace and forgotten. But someday, years from now, our efforts will be rewarded when you discover it in a drawer or among a stack of dust-covered books. Hopefully, you leave Silver Lake Regional High School prepared to pursue your goals and to confront the many challenges and responsibilities of the future.
Always use the knowledge that you have gained to the best of your ability. Recognize that your contributions as an individual to society are important and could make a difference in our world.

Scottish poet Robert Browning in his work entitled "Men and Women" wrote, "Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp, Or what's a heaven for? " These words hold great meaning and would serve you well as a focus toward success in your future. Many of you have earned recognition for achievement in academics, athletics, cultural, service and social endeavors. Those of you who continually strove to excel in these areas, even though you may not have attained your goal, have emulated the spirit of Browning's words.
Hopefully, the labors you endured as a student have prepared you for the many obstacles you will encounter in life. Like school, life too requires hard work and self dis- cipline from those who would succeed in college, in work, and in family life.
1 wish all members of the Class of 1986 much happi- ness, good health and all possible success in the years ahead. You have left me with some wonderful memories of your class which I will cherish.

We left junior high as one class going separate ways.
We then became "Kingston" and "Pembroi<e" —
Communication was difficult this first year.
Michelle led the class with so many new things to learn.

GOLF
Despite the loss of six of eight starters to graduation the 1 985- 1986 Silver Lake Golf Team won its last five matches of the regular season to finish with a record of 9-6. The team finished in second place and qualified for the spring tourna- ment for the third consecutive year under coach Bill Dries.
The Lakers were captained by the squad's only seniors, Scott Newell and Ed Doucette. Juniors Daren MacKinnon, Kevin Marani, Matt Wade, and sophomores Frank Murphy, Mark Dickson and Rob Stack rounded out the Silver Lake starters.
According to coach Dries "we should be among the league leaders next year if our six return- ing starters play to their poten- tial."

GIRLS SOCCER
The girls' soccer team was led by Seniors Beth Brown, Marcia Carlson, Mary Chapman, Amy Rudolph and Sheila Stack to one of the team's most competitive seasons in its five year history. After a disappoint- ing first half schedule the Lakers improved to win or tie their last 6 of 8 games to make their record 5-9-2 for the '85 season.

BOYS SOCCER
The boys' soccer team had high hopes for the 1 985 season but found the going a little tough. In one of the strongest leagues in Massachusetts the team had very close games all year but finished with a 6-10-0 record. Captains Joe Bonanno, Kyle McNamara, and Kevin Hart showed great leadership as well as the other fine senior players John Shaugbessy, Ben Sullivan, and Richard Nicholson. With a fine group of returning starters next year will be a super year.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
The boys' cross country team, despite a slow start, came on strong at the end of the season; and has a great deal of returning runners for the next season's team. Among the league's leading runners was John Lally showing a great deal of consistency.

The girls' cross country team had a good season, despite in- juries and with a strong group of younger runners should dominate in years to come.

SILVER LAKE GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM 1985-86
The 1 985-86 editions of the Silver Lake Girl's Basketball Team will see many new players. Senior Co-Captain and center Marcia Carlson is the only starter returning from last year's Old Colony League Co-Championship team, and will be counted on heavily for team leadership this season. Senior Co-Captain Kim Littig will be our most consistant outside scoring threat from a guard position. Senior forwards Tracie Moscato and Kathy Daley will contribute to our inside game while seniors Amy Rudolph and Liane Ahearn will see action at the guard positions.
Several underclassmen will see varsity action this year. Junior Tammy Graham and sophomores Marlene Lopes and Tiffany Mosher will all see significant playing time. Several younger players will split their court time between varsity and subvarsity play. These include: Juniors Jodi Kelly and Stephanie Hyson and sophomores Anne Gavigan and Lisa Nickerson.
Although this year's team will start the season with a definite lack of varsity experience, we are always looking forward to an exciting and successful season. COACH, David J. Markham

WRESTUNG
This was the first year we have had varsity wrestling in a few years. It looks to be a very prominent program that will be here for many years to come. 1, myself, a former high school and college wrestler, started with the very basics of wrestling since most of the kids had no knowledge of the sport Although we only won two matches there was some strong talent on the team. Senior captains Mark Collins, Matt Whalen and Ten Lamoureaux performed well. Other outstanding wrestlers were: seniors Gary Mourse, Dan Blake, Brian Rogers, Mike Paterno and Harold Barnett; junior Dave laccu- bucci and sophomores Joe Collins and Dennis Grohe.

BASEBALL
The 1985 baseball season was the start of a rebuilding teann due to the losses of our seasoned players, hav- ing lost all but three of our starters. We included in our line up sopho- mores and juniors with little or no ex- perience. Our sophomores: Ken Troup, Fred Abraham, Matt Mitchell and Mark Green did an outstanding job as first year varsity players and are expected to be a very strong part of the team for the next two years. The pitching staff was unusually weak due to some early injuries. Jeff Sampson handled most of the pitching load with strong support from first year players Jay Byrnes and John Brenton. All three will return for mound duty in 86 and we are antici- pating a stronger staff for the new season. Jim Pierce, our all star catcher had his best year and will be missed in the 86 season. His position will be difficult to fill as catching can be the back-bone of a ball team.
There will be a few positions we must
fill to make us stronger and we look for help from freshmen and JV teams, that had good talent as well. Having a losing season, 1 feel we have gained much experience and now a
feeling to win.
